Academic Qualifications:
BEng Electrical and Electronic Engineering, University of Malta
MSc Engineering Mathematics, University of Bristol

Diana joined Abel + Imray in May 2025 and is based in the Bath office.

Through her studies, Diana has gained a strong foundation in electronics, control theory, electrical power, renewable energy, image analysis and programming. Her Bachelor’s thesis focused on improving eye-gaze tracking technology by accurately identifying the centre of the iris and pupil. Using MATLAB, Diana implemented multiple image analysis and computer vision techniques to determine the optimal method for iris/pupil centre localisation. Her Master’s dissertation investigated a phenomenon called switch-induced ageing and its effects on systems which switch between different frequencies, and how they “age” over time as a result. To demonstrate the practical effects of such ageing, she modelled these systems in MATLAB and Simulink using electronic circuits.

After completing her Master’s, she joined a Bristol-based start-up as a Computer Vision Engineer. This role allowed her to deepen her knowledge of cutting-edge computer vision algorithms, C++, CUDA and Python programming. After a few years, she transitioned to a Research Associate role at the University of Bristol in the Particle Physics Department, allowing her to focus on hardware integration, digital electronics and further her software engineering skills.
