Ed joined Abel + Imray in 2013 and is based in the Cardiff office. His work involves drafting patent applications and prosecuting those patent applications in the UK, Europe and overseas. He also has experience of Opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office, as well as advising on Freedom to Operate. His work covers a range of subject matter areas, including semiconductor devices, medical imaging, non-destructive testing, robotics, oil and gas infrastructure, aerospace, and sustainable innovation.
Ed values providing each of his clients with pragmatic advice that is aligned to their commercial objectives. He works with a variety of businesses, from local SMEs requiring complete guidance through the world of IP, to large multinational companies where he works in partnership with in-house IP departments.
Before joining Abel + Imray, Ed graduated from the University of Southampton with a Master of Physics degree. Whilst studying for his degree, he conducted research into energy transfer within hybrid photovoltaic devices. He is also a Member of the Institute of Physics.
