Matt joined Abel + Imray in 2014 and is based in the Cardiff Office. His work covers a variety of technical disciplines, with particular experience of drafting and prosecuting patents relating to technology in the aerospace, defence, offshore engineering, optics and security sectors. In addition to UK and European work, Matthew has extensive experience of foreign patent and design prosecution, particularly in Asia and North America.
Matt also has also handled the assignment of a number of large IP portfolios, advised clients on the relevance of third party patent rights to their planned activities, and been involved in opposition proceedings before the European Patent Office.
Prior to joining Abel + Imray, Matt worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Imperial College, with a particular focus on modelling the behaviour of high-performance composite structures. His time in academia involved a number of industry-focused research projects for the likes of Airbus, Rolls-Royce, and Volvo, among others.
