Philip joined Abel + Imray in 2018 and is based in the London
Office. Philip has a degree and PhD in biochemistry and during his degree
spent a year at ICI pharmaceuticals looking at the inhibition of prostaglandin
and leukotriene production. Philip’s Ph.D.
was a CASE award with ICI Pharmaceuticals.
Prior to joining Abel + Imray, Philip worked for a generic pharmaceutical
company and trained and worked for a number of years in the patents group at
AstraZeneca. He has also worked for
another private practice firm. Prior to
training as a patent attorney, Philip worked as a postdoctoral research fellow.
Philip has extensive experience of patenting in the pharmaceutical field,
covering small molecule chemistry projects, in addition to biologics projects,
particularly antibodies. Philip has experience
of all aspects of patent practice, including drafting, freedom to operate
analyses and experience of patent prosecution throughout the world. He has appeared before the European Patent
Office (EPO) Opposition Division and the EPO Board of Appeal.
